Remembering Nana Today - The Family Text Was Lit Y'all

Writer: Marilyn CrutcherMarilyn Crutcher

I have a few stories in my head that I want to share here, but the family text chat today moved this story to the top of the list of stories. The family text has about eighteen family members on it, and we share family news with each other just about every day. I try to post something almost every morning that I hope will be encouraging, positive, loving, and sometimes just silly. Today for "Tuesday Thoughts", I posted a reminder to look for the good in all things. Since everyone else is either working or in school during the weekday, I don't get a reply most of the time until later in the day. But today was different because a few minutes after sending my text, three sweet pictures popped up of my great-niece Kennedi and her Nana (my sister). She added, "It's been 8 years...... I miss you more than you know and love you so so much. I hope you're smiling down on me." After I saw her message I was reminded that Pickle (Nana) passed away eight years ago today on 4/30/2016. After Kennedi's message and pictures, the family text was flooded with pictures and sweet expressions of love and longing for her. We all miss her presence and often laugh about how she would have spoiled the two six-year old little folks in the family if she was still here.

Because I'm the keeper of all of the old photos (pre-cellphones), it was fun sharing a few oldies but goodies with them.

"Never. We never lose our loved ones. They accompany us; they don't disappear from our lives. We are merely in different rooms." ~ Paulo Coelho

Much Love,

Marilyn (aka Pickle's Sister)
